Since he was shot by Franco's army, on October the 15th 1940, Lluis Companys has been remembered as the martyr president who defended the dignity of the country and the institution to death. But the Company's figure is much more than this. Lluís Companys intensely lived the first four decades of the twentieth century, which were the most difficult and convulsive years of Catalan and European contemporary history: the First World War, the Soviet revolution, the rise of fascism and Nazism, the popular fronts, the Spanish Civil war and the World War II. All these events changed the history and Lluis Companys was not unscathed either. "El viatge Lluis Companys" reviews his political life and the result is one of the most complex, contradictory and fascinating biographies of the first half of S.XX.
