At the end of the Spanish Civil War, a group of men and women fleeing from Franco’s advancing troops make it across the French border. Among them is Lola, whose husband Felip had to return to Barcelona to try and free their daughter, who was kidnapped by the Falangists. During Lola’s odyssey in France, she is held prisoner in the Argelers concentration camp, she befriends a group of refugees who will eventually fight alongside General Leclerc, and she falls in love.
