Mataró - Maresme Film Commission
Mataró is a flourishing town, well communicated with Barcelona Metropolitan Area and the rest of Catalonia. The excellent road network makes access to the area particularly easy, whether by public transport or by car. The town's superb geographic situation--on one side the sea, on the other the Serralada Litoral mountains--generates excellent climatic conditions, making a stay here a veritable pleasure. To stroll around the streets in Mataró centre is to journey back through the town's history: from ancient Roman Iluro to baroque architecture, colonial dwellings and Modernista buildings designed by a great local architect, Josep Puig i Cadafalch. Mataró also boasts a marina and a fishing port, as well as restaurants, pavement cafés, parks and gardens and beaches, and a vast number of shops and business, including the markets so traditional in the Mediterranean region.
