Galicia, 1850. The woods are infested with wolves. The local people live in fear and there are ever more families grieving the loss of a loved one. The bodies found present signs of the aggression of wolves, but also strange cuts, made with such precision they can hardly be attributed to an animal. The legend of the werewolf spreads like wildfire and terror becomes widespread. 
Barbara lives with her sisters on the outskirts of town. With the help of Manuel, a pedlar, the women begin to leave home one by one, hoping to find a better life in the city. When Manuel returns for Barbara, the suspicion that her sisters have never reached the city is tormenting her. How is it that Manuel hasn't the least fear of crossing the woods? What secret does his cart hide?
