On one of the last afternoons of the 19th century, Onofre Bouvila arrives in Barcelona and sets eyes on Delfina for the first time.
In a turbulent city, caught up in the unremitting race towards progress, its doctrines and its struggles, Onofre and Deltina are to live out a love beyond the bounds of time and death. This they will do despite their luckless lives, marked by violence, disappointment, hate and the overwhelming loneliness that the new, sparkling 20th century was holding in store for all those who dared to make something of themselves.
