Vall de Cardós

Vall de Cardós, located in the heart of the Pallars Sobirà region, is a privileged setting for audiovisual productions thanks to its natural surroundings and the authenticity of its eight villages scattered throughout the area. This territory preserves a truly rural essence, with mountain landscapes, stone houses with slate roofs, lush forests, and grazing meadows that change color with the seasons.

The Vall de Cardós municipality covers an area of 56.2 km² and sits at over 898 meters above sea level. Much of its territory is part of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, with the Noguera de Cardós river acting as its backbone. A rich architectural and cultural heritage is still preserved today: Romanesque churches, mountain cabins (bordes), old medieval bridges, stone path walls, and memory spaces linked to exile and the Spanish Civil War.

Vall de Cardós has inspired various authors. Jacint Verdaguer, during his excursions through the Pyrenees, collected legends and stories from the area that influenced his work. The valley has also served as the filming location for movies such as The Lady of the Dawn, by Francisco Rovira Beleta, and Ripe Green, by Rafael Gil.

To film in any of the villages that make up Vall de Cardós, you must contact the Vall de Cardós Town Hall.
