Within the program of the Filmoteca de Catalunya ‘Vivim el barri’

From September 3 to 10, 15 young people between the ages of 16 and 20 from the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona participated in this workshop, organized by the Filmoteca de Catalunya with the collaboration of the Tot Raval Foundation and promoted by the Cooperativa la Selva. The premiere of the three short films resulting from the workshop was on September 13, with the young creators, collaborating entities, friends, and family.

The cinematographic experimentation workshop ‘Vivim el barri’ is aimed at young people from the Raval or linked to neighborhood associations or entities. The initiative wants to make training around cinema accessible and wants to influence critical thinking, awareness-raising, and awareness of urgent social issues through cinematographic experimentation. The workshop brings closer and expands what the Filmoteca de Catalunya does in its educational and cinematographic aspects. And to promote a space for creation with young people from the neighborhood and accommodate their artistic and creative interests through the knowledge of other young people and professionals from the world of cinema.

During the workshop, three filmmakers accompanied them: Júlia de Paz, director, and scriptwriter of the film Ama; Damián Sainz, professor at the Cuban Film School and filmmaker and Antoni Trullén, editor and director of the film Carmona tiene una fuente.
