The competition opens on September 19th
Among the films shot in our city and featured at this year's San Sebastian Festival is Good Valley Stories by José Luis Guerin, which is participating in the competition. The Barcelona-born director's documentary focuses on the farming area known as La Ponderosa, in Vallbona, highlighting the unusual survival of an agricultural production area within the municipal territory. In this sense, the film becomes part of actual debates about the reconciliation between countryside and city, as well as environmental sustainability. Guerin's work draws on the memories of the neighborhood's people, including post-war migrants from southern Spain and new migrants from the global south.
Additionally, in the Made in Spain section, five more films shot in Barcelona will be showcased. These include The Imminent Age, directed by Col·lectiu Vigília, Clara Serrano Llorens, and Gerard Simó Gimeno; Fury by Gemma Blasco; The Exiles by Belén Funes; My Friend Eva by Cesc Gay; and The Portuguese House by Avelina Prat.
Additionally, on September 22, Leticia Dolera's new series, Pubertat, will premiere and will be available to stream on HBO Max starting September 24.
