WE VISIT THE LOCATIONS OF THE SECOND SEASON OF THE SERIES 'SER O NO SER'

It is the second season of this RTVE series. Ser o no ser is directed again by Marta Pahissa and created and written by Coral Cruz. Big Bang Media (The Mediapro Studio) produces it for RTVE's online channel, Playz. This season consists of six chapters again.

Ser o no ser tells us the story of Joel, a 17-year-old trans teenager who dreams of becoming a great performer while facing the emotional and physical challenges of his transition. They filmed in our city, where the protagonist lives and studies. In this season, Joel wants to advance the mastectomy operation by a year and, therefore, will have to find a job to save up.

In this article, we review the locations of the series in Barcelona. Be careful, if you haven't seen the series, there may be some spoilers.

 

Chapter 1. Plot proposal

The chapter begins with Joel (Ander Puig) kissing a girl in his room. It's a dream. Joel's mother (Anna Alarcón) wakes him up because he's late for school. The scenes at Joel's house are on Lluís Piadós Street. Then we see him walking down the street with his best friends, Ricky (Lion Armas) and Laia (Berta Galo), in front of the school. It's the door of the IES Consell de Cent (Carrera Street, 2). There they meet Àlex (Enzo Oliver) and Ona (Júlia Gibert).

Then, we see them in class. The teacher, Carmen (Emma Vilarassau), introduces a new student, Bruna (Alícia Falcó). She has just moved to Barcelona. They filmed Carmen's classes inside the Lluïsos de Gràcia Theater (Nord Square, 7).

Later, the friends have lunch on the school's terrace, which is its courtyard. It's also the roof of the Lluïsos de Gracia.

 

 

When classes end, we see the entrance to the high school. Later, Laia and Joel are walking down the street. They are on San Isidre Street. In the background, we can see the stairs with Puríssima Concepció Street.

At another time, we see an aerial image of the city at night with the Sagrada Familia in the background. During the day, we spot the school's entrance again and the students in class. Then, we see Ona and Laia walking through the corridors of the Lluïsos de Gracia Theater.

Later, we see an image of Barcelona at night with the Colón building, the Mapfre Tower, and the Arts Hotel. It is getting light. Next, we see the Maremágnum and the cable car tower. A new day at the school begins. They meet again at the door. Some of the students sit on the benches in front.

 

 

After class, we see an image of the cable car in operation and the statue of Columbus. Later, we see the Mar Bella beach. Joel and Bruna have some beers on the jetty. In the background, we see the Mapfre Tower and the Vela Hotel.

 

Chapter 2. The rundown

The chapter begins with Joel and Bruna on the jetty of Mar Bella Beach. Ona and Laia talk in the school's toilets, which are those of the Lluïsos de Gracia Theatre. Joel, Ricky, and Laia walk down San Isidre Street again. They accompany Laia to her house and continue walking and talking. Later, Joel talks to his mother at home.

 

It's a new day. We see the cable car tower in a general view of the city. After acting class, Bruna, Laia, Joel, Àlex, and Ricky meet at Joel's house. Meanwhile, Ona and Víctor work on the play at his house. They filmed these scenes in the same apartment as Joel and his mother on Lluís Piadós Street.

 

Chapter 3. The script

In this episode, Joel and Brun hang some posters on the street. Joel offers himself as a dog walker. They are in the Baterías passage. We see images of the city again, such as the Maremágnum, the entrance to the institute, and the cable car tower. Bruna helps Joel with his first dog. He walks them for money. It's a Labrador. They are on San Isidre Street with Puríssima Concepció Street. We see several scenes of Joel and Bruna walking dogs in the Miramar Gardens.

Later, we see an image of the three chimneys. Joel walks a dog in the Primavera park. After that, we see a view of the city at night with the Sagrada Familia in the background. The next day, Joel walks a dog called Turrón in the same place. We see the three chimneys in the background. Next, we see Joel running down the street, arriving late to school. He is on Carrera Street.
 

 

Later, Joel and Bruna are sitting on a bench. It is at night, and they are at the viewing point at Ibáñez Square, 2, in the Miramar Gardens.

 

Chapter 4. First reading

This episode begins with Joel and Turrón in the park. He is walking with him in the morning. He is in the Bateries Passage on the Forestier stairs towards the Mirador de Miramar. In the background, we can see the Jaume I tower in the port. Then, we see the image of the IES Consell de Cent. The students are in theatre class (Lluïsos de Gracia Theater). At night, we see an image of the city with the lights on. Joel is studying at home.

The next day, we see an image of the port with the Maremágnum and the institute's door. They are in class. Then we see Àlex and Ricky leaving through the door of the center. Ona and Víctor are sitting on some benches in front of the door.

Later, we see an image of the city with the Cathedral in the background and the Sagrada Familia. Bruna buys a drink in a supermarket. When she leaves, she talks to Joel in the street. They are on Alzina Street, 48. Then, Joel walks down the street, and we see Nord Square.

 

Chapter 5. Rewriting

At the beginning of the episode, Laia and Joel talk while sitting on the steps of San Isidre Street on the corner of Puríssima Concepció Street. We see the school gate again. Later, they are in class. Then, we see them in the courtyard.

We see an aerial image of the city again with the statue of Columbus and the port. Later, we see some night images with Tibidabo in the background, the Colón building, the Mapfre Tower, the Arts Hotel, and the chimneys of the Paral·lel in the foreground. Víctor goes out the door of his house and talks to Àlex on the street. They are on Martí Street, 45.

 

Chapter 6. Final version

The chapter begins with Joel and his mother at home. We see some images of the port. Laia, Ricky, and Joel walk together down Carrera Street towards the school gate. Àlex and Víctor are there.

Later, we see an image of the three chimneys in Chimeneas Park. Àlex and Víctor are walking down a street when Àlex's phone rings. They are on Martí Street, walking from Nord Square towards Víctor's house. Then, we see another aerial image of the port getting dark with the Maremágnum in the background.

 

 

The following day, Ona and Joel walk together down Carrera Street to the school. There, they improvise a performance with their classmates. Later, we see an image of the city with the Cathedral and the Agbar Tower in the background. Víctor waits for Laia on the steps of San Isidre Street with Puríssima Concepció. She arrives, and they talk.

At another time, Joel meets Carmen. She is also walking her dog. They are at the Mirador of the Ibáñez Square. They sit on a bench and talk. We can see Barcelona in the background. The episode ends with Joel on the beach at Mar Bella.
