The site is divided into two parts by a large staircase which runs from the main entrance to the chapel, situated on the highest point of the cemetery where there is a pedestrian entrance.

Both sides contain blocks of niches as well as numerous tombs and monumental graves which are reminiscent of the towers that were built during this period in this neighbourhood of Barcelona.

The Sant Gervasi Cemetery, situated in the upper part of Barcelona, was opened in 1853. It offers marvellous views across the city, right down to the sea.
