It is neoclassical in style and has a church at the far end of the cemetery, close to the wall, which overlooks the entire site.

The most significant graves can be found close to the central path which is flanked by pine and cypress trees. The cemetery also includes a variety of coats of arms and epitaphs which reveal the noble titles of the deceased.

This cemetery belongs to the old village of Horta, a small and scarcely populated rural area that was not incorporated into the city of Barcelona until 1904. The cemetery is divided into four islands and was opened in September 1867.
