La Garrotxa is a county located in the province of Girona, in the north eastern region of Catalonia, just at one hour from Barcelona.

While in the southern half of the region more than 40 volcanoes and various lava flows forming a soft countryside without many slopes (although with some stunning basalt cliffs) and with influence of the Atlantic climate, in the northern half the landscape is rugged with lots of cliffs, canyons and with a clear influence of the Mediterranean climate of medium mountain. In La Garrotxa there are also large agricultural valleys like Bas, Bianya or Hostoles, or plains like Maià de Montcal, with serveral charming villages.

Right in the center of the region there is Olot, the capital of the county, a city with some volcanoes in the center, several rural areas and modernist houses. The council provides facilities for filming in terms of permits occupation of public roads.
