Arenys de Munt is a town in the northeast of Barcelona Province, some 45 kilometres from the capital and a stone's throw from the coast and Montseny Natural Park. The town is well communicated by road and motorway, whilst the area itself is highly mountainous, the vegetation typically Mediterranean, with pine and holm oak woods. The municipal area includes two small neighbourhoods, Torrentbò and Sobirans, and many scattered old farmhouses, as well as five residential areas. La Riera is the promenade that runs through the entire urban centre, in which we find typical Maresme houses alongside Modernista and historicist style houses, large farmhouses and more recent mansions. The outstanding sites in Arenys also include the Gothic Church of Sant Martí, and the school of the same name, built in the 1930s.
