The festival opens with Wonders of the Sea
The International Film Festival of Environment opens next November 2 with Wonders of the Sea, a 3D film by Jean Michel Cousteau and Jean Jacques Mantello. Both will be present at the ceremony. The Special Golden Sun will be awarded to the animalist Carol Buckley. The film that will close the contest at Cosmocaixa is Unchained, directed by Alex Rivera, follows precisely the work of Buckley and his team to improve the welfare of captive elephants in Nepal.
Among the novelties of this edition, FICMA opens FICMARKET, 1st. World Market for these types of films that wants to strengthen the environmental documentary industry. This year a new Official Section of Catalan documentary is also being premiered in a new hall: the ZumZeig Cinemas.
This year the FICMA-WWF Scholarship will also be awarded again to produce a short film. One of the outstanding visits is the presence of Tippi Degré (the girl from the jungle) as director of the Little FICMA.
