Fabián and Miguel, two Spanish posted in Macedonia, pass their time playing cards. Whoever gets the ace of spades has to fire at some chickens in the distance. Five years later, back in Spain, Miguel is released from prison and sets out into find his old friend, Fabián. Fabián, now working as head of security at a transport company, has remade his life and is about to become a father. Miguel has never forgiven hi for reporting the event with the prostitute, for his having to leave the army and do five years in prison. He threatens to kill Fabián right there and then, but when Fabián dares him to do it looking him right in the eye, Miguel’s bravado wanes and he leaves, declaring that the game has only just begun. A series of corpses begin to be found in the area, all with a mysterious letter lying at their side. Fabián is unaware that the police investigation is pointing at him as the culprit.
