Last November 22th in the CRP. Center for Pedagogical Resources of Sant Andreu was held the second workshop BFCLabFestivals. The ICUB, through the Barcelona Film Commission and together with the Consorci d'Educació de Barcelona, IMEB and the Catalunya Film Festivals, organized this workshop entitled "Film festivals and education in the image". With the aim of promoting the link between the cultural sector, through the field of festivals and film exhibitions, and the education sector.

During the workshop we learned about the practical case of the Reteena Festival, the first festival in the city made by the young people themselves and aimed at young people. Created in a dynamic and participatory way, the festival celebrates its second edition this year. Marta Nieto of the educational projects of the association Drac Màgic, a pioneer in cultural dissemination, made an analysis of the initiatives of film festivals in relation to education. Our festivals have sessions in the classrooms, but also in the same festivals, workshops where you can experiment with new audiovisual tools, teacher training, competitions and many other activities. The festivals presented at the conference explained their relationship with education: El Meu Primer Festival, Americana Independent North-American Film Festival of Barcelona, D'A Film Festival, Docs Barcelona and FICMA.

Then we learned over the education sector. From the Consorci d'Educació de Barcelona Lluís Vallvé, the Pedagogical Resources Center of Sant Andreu and the CRAB (Center for Artistic Resources of Barcelona) explained the seven principles of learning to put us in situation and the challenges of education. The student is the center and this makes the teachers have to adapt to the new times and change. He had the collaboration of his colleague of the CPR Sant Andreu, Carme Hoyas. In his talk, he explained how the educational and audiovisual world could fit together and how they could help each other.

From the Institut d'Educació de Barcelona (IMEB), we had Montserrat Potrony, Head of the Department of Educational Programs of the City and Mireia Bassols, Head of the Knowledge Program of the City Council of Barcelona. They explained to us what is the Council of Pedagogical Innovation and the Program of PAE school activities and its practical search tool, a digital platform with more than 5,000 activities, many of them with a seal of pedagogical quality.

Our guest was Michel Gómez, General Delegate of Mission Cinéma of the City of Paris. Gómez explained to us the pedagogical actions related to image education that since the nineties the Paris City Council has been developing through this institution. It is a priority, that is why they have initiatives such as a festival dedicated entirely to children, special sessions with schools in independent cinemas or TUMO, center for creative technologies. The latter is a totally digital school, where young people can develop their artistic projects with new technologies.

Subsequently, work sessions were held between the festivals and the educational world, to share proposals to work together. The journalist and dynamiser Olga Vallejo helped us. The conference ended with the presentation of the new line of culture-education grants from ICUB-IMEB with Esteve Caramés, Director of Promotion of Cultural Sectors of ICUB.
