Recommendations to see at home (XIII)

06/12/2020

Series, programs and films that have been filmed in Barcelona

This is the thirteenth week of confinement, and here we have a new round of our recommendations to make these difficult days a little better. We are already in phase 2 of de-escalation but we continue with our compilation of these recommendations we make via social media every day. They are movies and television series, programs, documentaries, and different audiovisuals. You can see them open or on various paid platforms. All of them have filmed in our city.

  • The Mostra Internacional de Films de Dones will be available online until this Sunday, June 14. You can watch documentaries, fiction, and short films directed by women and also enjoy parallel online activities such as talks or workshops. You can see it on Filmin.
  • You can see this week's Tabús tv show à la carte. It’s the last one of the season and has extras with unreleased scenes. David Verdaguer presents the program that recorded in our city and will have a second season in 2021. Tabús dismantle clichés about different groups such as blind people, LGTBI people, obese people, with mental disorders, suffering from terminal illnesses or poverty, people with functional diversity, or of different ethnicities. You can see it on the tv3 website.
  • Canal 33 continues to broadcast films from the Cicle Gaudí. You can see some films a la carte, such as The One-eyed King. David is a riot police officer who has put out the eye of a protester with a rubber ball. Coincidentally, this protester, called Nacho, appears at his house one night. Then, it begins an acid comedy about the fragility of convictions, the nature of social roles, and the search for truth. You can watch it on tv3.
  • We have here the VIII cycle of Arab and Mediterranean cinemas of the Civic Center La Sedeta. It screens the most outstanding films of the Arab and Mediterranean Film Festival of Catalonia. Because of COVID-19, this year the film exhibition will be online until June 21. You have all the information on how to access the contents in the following link.
  • Joc de cartes is a competition that presents the cuisine that people made in Catalonia. Marc Ribas is the host. Its summer edition is already underway. In this link, you can see the programs that have recorded in Barcelon. You can see it on tv3.
  • Rosa Maria Sardà has left us this week. They recommend one of her films she shot in our city, Actresses by Ventura Pons. A young theater student interviews three great actresses: an international diva, a TV star and a dubbing director, and discovers in her memories the greatness and misery of theater: a whole metaphor for life. You can see it at Filmin, where you can also see other films starring the actress.
