05/22/2015

El viatge de Copmanys is a series of two chapters that commemorates the 75th anniversary of the death of President Lluís Companys.

Since the President Lluís Companys was shot by Franco's troops on 15th October 1940, he has been remembered as the martyr president who defended the dignity of the country and the institution until his death.

But Companys is much more than that. Lluís Companys intensely lived the first four decades of the twentieth century, which were the most difficult and turbulent period in the contemporary Catalan and European history: the World War I, the Soviet revolution, the rise of fascism and Nazism, the Popular Fronts the Spanish Civil War and World War II.

The film follows the political life of Companys and the result is one of the most complex, contradictory and exciting biography of the first half of the twentieth century. This miniseries is being shot at several locations in Barcelona, such as the Castle of Montjuïc, the Barcelona City Council, the Generalitat, the Casinet d’Hostafrancs, among others.
