The city hosts the filming of the movie based on the manga Jojo's bizarre adventures.

Renowned Japanese director Takashi Miike is shooting in Barcelona a live version of the manga JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable. In the film, Josuke Higashikata, a high school student with superpowers, fights against the bad guys to protect Japanese city Morioh, a fictional city based on the town of Sendai. The team has been shooted in several locations of Spain because they did not want to film only in Japan. The film will be released in the summer of 2017.
