The Catalan Film Academy paid homage to the disappeared Orphea Film studios and to the Trilla studios on November 27th at an event at the CaixaForum in Barcelona. Both were the first sound studios in Spain and precisely, they were located in the mountain of Montjuic, in Barcelona.

The Trilla studios were in the former Universal Exposition Metallurgy Pavilion and were inaugurated in November 1931 and worked until 1956. Shortly after, in the summer of 1932, the Orphea Film opened its doors in which it had been the Palace of the chemistry. Thanks to the high technical sound level with which they were equipped, the year of its foundation they received all the productions filmed in the State. Turning Barcelona into the capital of the Spanish film industry. The first sound production spoken in Catalan was held there. It was El Cafè de la Marina, directed by Domènec Pruna and based on the homonymous work by Josep Maria de Sagarra. In 1962, Orphea Film was burned under strange circumstances and the studies disappeared forever.

During the act of homage, we saw an unreleased audiovisual installation live sounded by "foley artists". Recalling how it was done in the origins of cinema. A piece created expressly for the occasion by Jordi Morató. Kiku Vidal, an authentic master of the art of Foley (the recreation of the sound world of a film in synchrony with the image), participated together with his children, two generations of a family of long tradition in the field of sound.

Next, an interesting round table was held about the cinematographic memory of Barcelona, ​​from the golden age of the great studios to the closing of emblematic neighbourhood cinemas. In the debate, participated Esteve Riambau, Toni Vall, Luci Lenox and Amanda Villavieja and was moderated by journalist Montse Virgili.

The event ended with the signing of an urban mural. The artist Roc Blackblock has made it and will be installed on Avenida Ferrer i Guàrdia, very close to where the Orphea Film and the Trilla Studios were.
