About movie tours

Up to 1 in every 5 tourists are motivated by the movies or TV programs they’ve seen.

One of the most interesting conferences of the Cineposium, which was held last September, was about creating cinematographic routes. How can a city become a worldwide tourist attraction? How can we generate interest towards the film shootings of a city? During the Cineposium we learned about that with three successful cases, Paris, New York and Barcelona.

The city of Paris is very well represented by the successful enterprise of the young Abigail du Bruyne, Set in Paris. Proofs of this are routes such as The Da Vinci Code, Midnight in Paris, The Devil Wears Prada and La Vie en Rose. Many tourists travel to the French capital to see the places where their favourite actors worked. In New York and in general in the United States this trend is also fully consolidated, thanks to the company On location tours runned by Georgette Blau. During Cineposium she told us that even they have come to recruit real actors as tour guides to emphasize much emotion during the journey, such as for example in the tour of the series The Sopranos in Boston.

Barcelona, a city of film (Barcelona movie walks) is a collection of 20 walks with 90 films and more than 200 locations in Barcelona, that the team of Eugeni Osácar from CETT has developed. The movie tours are very innovative because they are synchronized with Google Maps, providing to the user a unique experience. This is another good example of how cities can become relevant in the world tourism map.

On December 4th the film Barcelona nit d'hivern, of the director Dani de la Orden will be presented in the Catalan cinemas. This film has also joined efforts to create a movie tour. As you can see in the picture below, film fans can visit the city of Barcelona in a very different way from what we are accustomed. We invite you to discover the city through the Barcelona, nit d’hivern’s locations.
