Nova Icària is about 415 metres long. It is one of the beaches situated roughly halfway along the city seafront.

Along with Bogatell beach, this is the one of the beaches where users spend more time, possibly because it is one of quietest in the city. It is also one of the beaches in Barcelona with the widest range of leisure amenities: these include a playground and a ping-pong table by the Bogatell breakwater and two volleyball courts near the Olympic Harbour.

On public transport Nova Icària beach can be reached by Metro (Ciutadella or Bogatell, line L4), by bus (lines 6, 10, 36, 41, 92 and 141) and by tram (line T4, stopping at Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica). Cyclists can use the cycle lane on the seafront promenade and four Bicing stations located near the beach (two in Avinguda Litoral, 40 and two in Passeig Marítim de la Nova Icària, 83).

Nova Icària beach has been awarded an Ecoplayas or "eco-beach" flag in recognition of its quality and services.
