Municipal Theatre of Girona was opened in 1860 and is one of the few theaters that nineteenth-century came in the twentieth century without suffering any devastation. In 1986 some ambitious start rehabilitation work in order to establish the theater as a cultural modernizing and adapting it to the needs performing today. In autumn 2006, the Municipal Theater reopens its doors to the public with seating for 585 people.
