The city’s longest avenue, the Diagonal, cuts through this two neighbourhoods. To the south, Les Corts, which is a blend of modernity and the rural origins of the area. To the north, the smart residential district of Pedralbes, with its parks, quiet streets and outstanding Gothic monastery.

In Les Corts, the architecture is typical of the rapid urban development of the ‘60, and it also provides a glimpse of a the former village annexed to Barcelona at the end of 1800, where we can find clusters of terraced houses, and the remains of farmhouses among the blocks of flats. Over there we also find the Camp Nou, the FC Barcelona stadium, which since 1957 is the biggest one in Europe.

On the northern side of the Diagonal, Barcelona’s upper neighbourhood, Pedralbes, gives the opportunity to enjoy green areas, such as the Parc de Cervantes, which is famed for its rose garden, or the Parc de Pedralbes, with the former royal palace, the Royal Palace of Pedralbes. Behind the park, we can see Gaudí’s hentage in this neighbourhood, with a wrought-iron gate in the shape of a dragon and the Gatehouses of the Güell Estate.
