The building is an excellent example of Catalan modernism. It was designed by the architect Jeroni Martorell between 1905 and 1915. Among its architectural elements, the facade stands out (with capitals and entrance arches, sculptures by Josep Llimona, false lobster gargoyles, wrought iron grills and reliefs by the sculptor Sebastià Badia), the Turull courtyard (covered by a stained-glass skylight from the old library, it accommodates the sculptural monument to Pere Turull i Sallent, founder of the Caixa d'Estalvis de Sabadell) and a lounge modernist where relevant samples of applied arts are manifested such as, among others, the marble and stone shaft columns with sculpted capitals, the marble slab pavement with samples of floral mosaics, heraldic and allegorical motifs in the savings and culture, the set of stained glass windows in the entrance hall and the pictorial compositions, by Ricard Marlet and Saret, in the molded spaces of the arches.
