The Dalt Vila neighbourhood, on the north side of the Santa María church, was where, from de 11th century, the first nucleus of the grouped population of Manlleu began.  The current configuration of the Dalt Vila neighbourhood maintains its medieval shape urbanistically, but the oldest preserved houses are the product of the important reforms that took place from the 17th century. They are modern period buildings built between the 17th and 19th centuries, and respond to the type of house with clear similarities to the farmhouses of the time. Although some of theses houses were renovated again from the second half of the 19th century, numerous examples still remain that allow us to get the idea of the appearance of the old town during the 17th and 19th centuries.
