After nearly a hundred years of service, the Mercy Falls Children's Hospital is closing its doors for good. During the next weeks the remaining patients will be transferred to London hospitals. Then begins a bizarre case of children's bones breaking for no apparent reason. Making matters worse, the children in the hospital are becoming nervous, even afraid of what some of the children call ''the mechanical girl'', and claim to have seen it with their own eyes moving through the hospital corridors. Because in this hospital lies a secret. Something terrifying from the past that has come back to haunt.
