The action takes place in a village in Spain’s Levante in the early seventies. Pedro, a young man with serious mental and family problems, is doing his military service. He spends his days on leave watching Tere, whit whom he is secretly in love. One night, while Tere and her mother are asleep, Pedro slips into Tere’s room. The girl wakes up and screams when she sees the soldier, alerting her mother who comes running to her aid. Seized with fear, Pedro kills them both. He is arrested by the army, and it is decided to consider the events as “an internal matter” and take measures as soon as possible.
