Valls d'Àneu

The town of Alt Àneu, Espot, Esterri d'Àneu and La Guingueta d'Àneu are members of the CATALUNYA FILM COMMISSION network through the Valls d'Àneu Tourism Board. Valls d'Àneu is an area embracing four municipalities which, in turn, contain a total of 25 towns and villages. These valleys, occupying an area of 400 square kilometres in the Lleida Pyrenees, around three-and-a-half hours from Barcelona, are blessed by unique, superb natural scenery. Here are ideal locations, with a range of splendid landscapes, varying from fir woods to Alpine meadows and high peaks, dotted with glacial lakes, as well as the Noguera Pallaresa, one of the most important rivers in Europe for white water sports. Moreover, the area also contains considerable outstanding architectural and cultural heritage, with villages going back a thousand years, and that still conserve the charm of their agricultural and livestock farming traditions. Valls d'Àneu has been a popular shoot location since the 1950s, when the first feature film was made here. Since then countless commercials and films have used the area as a backdrop. Production companies interested in filming in villages in these valleys should contact the Valls d'Àneu Tourist Board, which acts as a liaison before the competent authorities to arrange permits and to provide information and advice to audiovisual industry professionals about locations, accommodations and transport.
