Located between the city of Girona and the coastal towns of the Costa Brava, La Bisbal d’Empordà is a city closely linked to the production of ceramics. Its landscape is characterized by the slender silhouettes of old industrial chimneys and by a commercial area linked to different ceramic products that color its streets. There are different pottery workshops, active or disused, old and modern, and of different dimensions. The Terracotta Museum, where more than 500 years of ceramic tradition are explained, is located in an old ceramic factory with a unique industrial architecture.
The old town, commercial center par excellence of the municipality, preserves a rich architectural heritage and several centuries-old shops practically intact. The network of narrow streets and numerous old buildings show the original structure of the town and the layout of the old walls. In the historical center, the Castell Palau stands out, one of the best preserved civilian castles of medieval origin in Catalonia. In the city there are several public or private buildings with modernist and / or colonial architecture (Indian) as well as numerous green spaces.
