The medieval villages of Cruïlles, Monells and Sant Sadurní de l’Heura are located in the Emporda, in the interior of the Costa Brava and at the foot of Les Gavarres Massif Natural Space, just 40km from Girona and 140km from Barcelona.
Monells is characterized by the charm and the immaculate restoration of its narrow streets and the large porticoed square with a marked medieval appearance and but also timeless. Location scouts and producers like the good integration of street furniture that allows unobstructed visual shooting from various angles and shooting different scenes within a few meters.
The highlights of Cruïlles are its 20-meters high tower isolated in the middle of a square surrounded by medieval houses and the Benedictine monastery of Sant Miquel de Cruïlles.
Local roads linking these towns are narrow and winding in a typical Tuscany landscape, which attracts filming of mainly automotive commercials.
These towns have been the set of several commercials from various sectors but the Spanish film "Ocho apellidos catalanes" by Emilio Martinez-Lazaro (2015), shot in Monells, is the best-known production.
