Conca de Barberà

The towns of Barberà de la Conca, Blancafort, Conesa, Forès, L'Espluga de Francolí, Les Piles, Llorac, Montblanc, Passanant i Belltall, Pontils, Santa Coloma de Queralt, Sarral, Savallà del Comtat, Solivella, Vallclara, Vallfogona de Riucorb, Vilanova de Prades and Vimbodí i Poblet, are members of the Barcelona-Catalunya Film Commission network through the Regional Council of La Conca de Barberà.

Conca de Barberà county lies in Central Catalonia, halfway between Tarragona and Lleida and just over one hundred kilometres from Barcelona. The county embraces twenty-two municipalities and more than thirty well-conserved small towns and villages that have resisted the passing of time.

Forming part of the Cistercian Route, and basking in a delightful rural environment, the many attractions in Conca de Barberà range from monumental sites such as the Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet (catalogued as World Heritage) to medieval towns, Modernista (Art Nouveau) wineries, castles and such natural sites as the mountains of Prades and Poblet, an outstanding beauty spot.

The county is a veritable mosaic of different, contrasting landscapes, accessible thanks to an excellent network of tracks and paths. Here, the River Francolí flows between mountain ranges and through rocky terrain to form surprising aquatic environments. There, we find high plateaux with forests and deep canyons against medium mountain landscapes, marked particularly by the Serra de Prades, and the fields growing the typical local crops: vines, olives and almonds.

Producers interested in filming in any of the towns in this county should contact Conca de Barberà County Council, which acts as an interlocutor with local authorities and provides the audiovisual profession with full information about locations and additional services available for production companies.
