Gema Briones is an Ibizan Director of photography, graduated from ESCAC as Director of photography. She mainly works in Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia or wherever the job takes her. As a DOP she has worked in fiction, documentaries and advertising. She also is a 2nd unit camera/DoP TV series and adverts such as “Atrapa un Ladrón” (Catch a thief), “El Ministerio del tiempo” (The Ministry of Time), “BMW” or “Decathlon”.
Her very versatile visual style is achieved using light as a source of inspiration and giving it meaning. This creative ability opens up a multitude of possibilities and nuances from subtle naturalist illumination to the materialization of deep shadows: from the stylish light of fashion to the contrast of colour. Her priority is to adapt to the demands of each project be it a documentary, a work of fiction or any other type. For her the challenge consists in being true to the style of each project and achieving a level of balance between the objective illumination of the precise scene and the subtle significativecontribution of light.
