Reading the newspaper one day, Lars Belden sees the obituary notice of Sela Huber, an ex-girlfriend who had walked out on him. She had always been an enigmatic person who never wanted to talk about her past. Once Lars recuperates from the initial shock of the terrible news in the paper, he decides he can't leaves things as they are; he has too many unresolved questions that need an explanation. Over the five days it takes Sela's best friend, Helga, to clear out the dead girl's flat, Lars discovers Sela's past and the reasons for her having broken up with him.
