The film is an adaptation of the self-titled novel by french author, Amélie Nothomb. Directed by Kike Maíllo, the protagonists are Tomasz Kot, Athena Strates, Marta Nieto and Dominique Pinon. Cristina Clemente, Fernando Navarro, and Maíllo himself wrote the script.

A Perfect Enemy tells the story of Jeremiasz Angust, a successful architect who loses his flight because of a young woman. She has approached him and bothers him. From there, both begin a conversation that although it seems fortuitous, it soon becomes much more sinister and criminal.

The shooting of the film takes place between December 2019 and February 2020 in different locations in Reus, Barcelona, Paris, and Frankfurt.
