The building is an old palace of the eighteenth century, which was built by the merchant Francesc Gomis in 1792. During the Napoleonic invasion, the Marshal of the French troops turned the palace into his habitual residence.

At the moment it is a museum of Modern Art, with different spaces and galleries.
