Salvador Dalí visited the city of Tarragona 40 years ago, on 17 August 1973. The genius artist from the Empordà Region was invited by the town council to celebrate the city's bimillennium anniversary.
This local event became universal thanks to Dalí's fame, which we explore and analyse through various materials. Hence, amateur films shot the same day, audio recordings, photographs and, above all, the voices of witnesses and experts enable us to draw in closer to the artist while shedding light on how the most avant-garde art was perceived in a provincial capital under the Franco regime.
