Fate plays a dirty hand on a young man and woman who meet, fall in love and, too late, discover they are brother and sister, siblings separated at birth who ought never to have found each other. When Rosa discovers she's pregnant, the couple opt to bring up the child together. Shunned as much by society as by their own mother, they struggle unsuccessfully to keep their heads above water and their family united. They only begin to see light at the end of the tunnel when a local town council passes law establishing a Register of Free Unions which allows Rosa and Dani to obtain legitimacy as a couple for the first time. Based on real events.
