Originally a medieval walled town, it still preserves the Orteu and Parrau access gates and its main streets, Major Street and Llorençi Torres Street, where you can see the old Orteu and Berenguer noble houses. The old centre is extended by the Ravl district, Fossar Vell Square and Oran Street, the route out of the town until 1887, when the road to Gerri de la Sal was opened up.
