Modernist building built in 1908, commissioned by Torrents family of businessmen located in Pius i Palà Square, between Sant Domenec Square and Born Street. Although the building is officially called Casa Torrents, it is popularly known as La Buresa, adopting the surname of the owner's wife, Antonia Burés.
Type / Elements
Modernist building conceived as a four-story neo gothic palace with circular towers, used as a residential building with three facades and a miter.
The central entrance has a foyer that unfolds on two equal scales. One of the towers, completed with a conical dome of ceramic scales and a tribune on the first floor. The facades are of regular and symmetrical composition, with an orderly arrangement of openings, alternating balconies and vertical outline windows. The building also has an open gallery on the upper floor and a cornice with overlays. The doors of the houses are original with modernist decoration. Recently the ground floor lobby has been restored (elevator).
At the moment the low plants are used for commercial purposes and the superiors continue being of residential use. Some of these private homes retain the original modernist decoration.
