Sant Ignasi Cave is a religious architectural ensemble in which St. Ignatius of Loyola relocated to practice prayer and penitence during his stay in Manresa between 1522 and 1523.

Over the years the group has undergone several extensions, of which the most recent has been the House of Spiritual Exercises backed by the church. Due to the religious and historical importance of the place it is probable that so much in the subsoil as in its surroundings it contains rest materials or some possible necropolis.

Sant Ignasi Cave is an architectural complex of a Baroque church plus the modern and huge Neoclassical building on its side, which together with the Romanesque Old Bridge and the gothic Silhouette of La Seu, one of the classic images of the entrance in the city of Manresa.

Built on the hill of Sant Bartomeu in one of the balms formed by the erosion of the waters of the Cardener, where according to the tradition, St. Ignatius of Loyola prayed for prayer and penance during his stay in the city of 25 March 1522 in early February 1523, and where he wrote the essential parts of the Spiritual Exercises. This fact is expressed in an alabaster altarpiece by Joan Grau (S.XVII), which is kept in La Coveta and shows the figure of the Holy One writing the Spiritual Exercises in Manresa.
