Santa Pau was declared a Historic-Artistic Site on July 22, 1971, in which it preserves the medieval character of the town, between walls and narrow streets. Inside the enclosure is the castle of the barony of Santa Pau, documented in the middle of the 13th century and located at the foot of the Sierra de Finestres.
