The City Wall was to protect the town of Banyoles from the 13th century until the 15th. Originally, the doors were closed at night and opened again to pray the matins of the day.
During the Guerra Civil Catalana (Catalan Civil War, 1462-1472) the city wall was damaged and in the 16th century in began reform.
