The Carrer del Balç, which formed the heart of the mediaeval city, grew up around the market which was located in the Plaça Major, a magnificent example of mediaeval urban planning.
With is narrow, winding course, the street follows the stepped rock face of the cliff and passes under the arcades between the houses, thus taking advantatge of what little space there was inside the walled city.
A trip back in time to mediaeval Manresa.
Located where an old townhouse once stood, the interpretation centre offers a multimedia experience which highlights its unique heritage and at the same time, allow visitors to discover what life was like in Manresa in the Fourteenth Century: the guilds, the oligarchies, and the noble families of the city, as well as daily life in a mediaeval street and the factors that made the construction of the Sèquia possible.
The story is narrated and personalized by the figure of King Peter III “The Ceremonious”, the great monarch responsible for creating the main institutions in the Catalan state.
