CAL SEGURA, RENAISSANCE PALACE IN SANTA COLOMA DE QUERALT.

Santa Coloma de Queralt is located at the beginning of the Cistercian and Cathar route. The charm of the old town of its medieval city stands out. It has its origins in the 10th century. Probably between the 13th and 14th centuries the walls were built and it became a closed village.

One of the walls of this old wall that has been preserved is Portal d’en Martí, with a double voussoir arch, a round point on the outside and a lowered arch at the height where the doors were. It is well preserved and is integrated into the facade of the manor house known as Cal Segura, also integrated into the town wall.

The building is of autochthonous Catalan construction, originally built in medieval times, with natural stone walls where the Portal stands out. In the 18th century, the most important remodeling was carried out on the ruins of an earlier building that gave it its current Renaissance character and appearance. Also renovated in the early 19th century and in the 21st, it remains in good condition. It is a beautiful example of a manor house from this century, with balconies with narrow arches on the first floor and wavy on the lower floor. All have wrought iron railings and the attic openings are made with circular ox-eyes.

The south-facing house, surrounded by history and nature, has an artistic and architectural value, it is a special piece, declared BCIN (cultural asset of national interest) where we find:
Main building of about 700 m2 on 4 floors:
The ground floor, with its own entrance, corresponds to the old stables, with a stone column and a transept vault and cellars with a barrel vault.
The main entrance through a staircase, gives access to three more floors:
In the first two we find different spaces for housing and tourism.
The second floor is noble with high ceilings, main living room and rooms with alcove or double alcove. In the third we find the attic.
Annex building: Smaller, rustic detached house.

There is enough parking space on the street in front of the house.
