Victor Balaguer Museum Library was founded in 1884 by the writer and politician who gives the name, it is one of the oldest and most unique museums in Catalonia. Maintains much of the aesthetic and original collections, so that you can understand how the museum was in the nineteenth century. The building was designed specifically for library functions (consisting in 20,000 books) and museum, something unusual at the time; it became one of the first cultural centers in Catalonia and new plant was built for this mision. The architecture incorporates decorative historicist elements, neoegipcian and neogreek style, characteristic details of public Catalan architecture of the end of the century. We can found inside works of El Greco, Rubens, Van Dick, Ribera, Goya, Rusiñol, Ramon Marti Alsina, Ramon Casas, Joaquim Mir, inter alia. Also ethnographic collections from China, Japan, Philippines and America.
