After the defeat of the Battle of the Ebro, the republican civilian population began a massive exodus towards the French border. Thousands of Republican soldiers were joined by women, children and elderly people, who, little by little, and seeing defeat approaching, had to desert. This is the love story of Guillermo and María, a Republican soldier and his beloved during their escape to France, but also the story of the more than 460,000 refugees who crossed the French border that winter.
