The Municipal Institute of Markets of Barcelona (IMMB) is responsible for authorizing filming and photo shooting in the city's municipal markets.

CHARACTERISTICS:

• The permits for Markets must be for a specific market, day, and time.
• The filming or photography sessions must be compatible with the market's activities, without interfering with the vendors or the customers. If this is not possible, the possibility of filming outside of commercial hours will be considered.
• It is recommended to have the smallest possible crew. For the more popular markets (La Boqueria Market, Santa Caterina Market), permits will only be granted for teams with a maximum of 5 people and 1 shoulder-mounted camera.
• In addition to the IMMB authorization, it will be necessary to agree with the owner of each affected stall in each case.
• The most popular markets in the city have some specific restrictions. Please check the details for each case, such as: La Boqueria Market, Santa Caterina Market, etc.

COST:

Filming activities and photography for commercial or advertising purposes, if they do not disrupt the normal operation of the market and with prior municipal authorization, will incur the following fees (per day or fraction, per market):

• Filming for promotional or corporate videos, distribution: online – 216.00 €
• Filming for advertisements or feature films, distribution: television, cinema, online – 847.80 €
• Promotional or corporate photography, distribution: online, offline – 151.00 €
• Photography for advertisements: distribution: online, offline – 513.00 €

EXEMPTIONS AND REDUCTIONS:

• Activities related to filming and photography for institutional purposes conducted by public entities or on their behalf are exempt from this fee.
• Filming and photography for news programs or documentaries by media outlets, cultural projects without profit, and academic exercises are also exempt from the fee.

DEADLINE:

A minimum of one week’s notice is required to request these permits.

• Commercial Production:
  • To apply for this permit for commercial production, you must contact the IMMB directly by filling out this form and sending it to mercatsbcn@bcn.cat.

• Non-commercial Production:
  • If it is a non-commercial production (not related to any commercial brand or service), you must apply through the Barcelona Film Commission. Fill out the Production Registration (if you haven’t already) and the Location Request form, which can be found through this link.
