A town lying 30 kilometres south of Barcelona, just fifteen minutes from Barcelona-El Prat Airport and with excellent motorway, railway and even helicopter communications with the Catalan capital, Sitges has always been a popular site for shooting commercials, films and TV programmes, thanks to its many and varied locations, and to its magnificent microclimate.
Sitges is a coastal resort that has wisely preserved its cultural and artistic heritage, enriched by the legacy of the Indianos, who helped to make Sitges the town we see today. Particularly outstanding amongst the vast range of locations here are the landscapes of the Garraf Natural Park, a limestone massif with an area of 312 square kilometres.
Moreover, Sitges still retains the Bohemian air brought here by the multi-faceted artist Santiago Rusiñol, who placed the town at the heart of the Catalan Art Nouveau (Modernista) movement. Here, on a site first founded by Iberian tribes and which later became an important Roman settlement, are countless delightful churches and chapels, Modernista streets and buildings, noble mansions and charming squares.
Sitges Film Office was established to provide audiovisual production companies with all the top-quality, professional services and facilities they need to complete their shooting projects in Sitges, helping them to make the very most of the local resources.
