El Masnou, which lies just fifteen minutes north of Barcelona both by road and rail, boasts more than 3 kilometres of beaches.

The town boasts considerable architectural and cultural heritage in the form of houses and buildings in Modernista and Noucentista style built by the Indianos—sea captains and navigators who made their fortune in America. Here, too, are many parks and gardens, and a promenade enabling visitors to walk all the way from the sea to Vallmora Park, which connects with the Serralada de Marina mountains. Moreover, growth in the town over recent years has also equipped El Masnou with many new buildings and family homes in peaceful residential areas with little traffic.

The town maintains its links with the sea through small businesses engaged in the shipping industry, through its marina, its yacht and sailing club, and thanks to fishing, still practiced by the fishermen’s guilds in Montgat, Masnou and Premià.
